Are Rabbit Ears Good for Dogs?

Rabbit ears look a little unusual the first time you see them, we'll admit. But they're one of the most popular natural chews around, and for good reason. Here's the honest lowdown.

The good bits. Rabbit ears give a satisfying, gnawable chew that helps scrape away plaque and keep teeth cleaner. The natural fur adds a bit of fibre, which many owners find helps with firmer stools and general digestion. And like most chews, a good gnaw releases feel good endorphins, so they're a handy boredom buster too.

The natural wormer question. You'll often see rabbit ears described as a natural wormer. It's a bit of a stretch. The fur may help brush the gut as it passes through, but there's no solid clinical proof it actually treats worms, so please keep up your dog's proper worming routine rather than relying on chews.

Can puppies have them? Yes, generally from around four months, when teething is in full swing and a good chew brings real relief. Always supervise, and choose a size that suits your pup.

How many is too many? Two or three times a week is plenty for most dogs. If your dog is prone to a sensitive tummy, go easy at first, pick low fat options for waistline watchers, and always keep an eye on any dog that likes to gulp rather than chew.

Fancy giving them a go? Our natural rabbit ears (with and without fur) are single protein and free from the funny stuff.
