Walkies Essentials: Your Dog Walk Checklist

A good walk starts with a bit of prep. Here's the little checklist to run through before you and your pooch head out the door.

Collar, lead and ID. The obvious ones, but worth a glance. Check the collar fit, clip on a sturdy lead, and make sure your dog's ID tag details are up to date.

Waste bags. Never the glamorous bit, always essential. A collar or lead with a built in waste bag holder means you're never caught short mid walk. Very civilised.

Water on warm days. Pop a travel bowl and some water in your bag when it's warm, so your dog can have a drink on longer outings.

Weather kit. A drying robe or towel by the door for muddy days, and shade and water for hot ones. A little forward planning saves a lot of hassle.

Treats. A few training treats in your pocket make recall and good manners so much easier, and a lot more fun.
